William Nicholas McKenna III of Duxbury, MA and Stuart, FL passed away on November 18, 2021 at the age of 78 after a valiant 20-year struggle with Parkinsons. As the Founder of Diversified Financial Management in Massachusetts, Bill served as a registered investment advisor for 25 years and greatly valued the lifelong friendships he developed with his clients over the years. In addition to being a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Bill was an entrepreneur at heart and had the foresight to successfully transition his practice to an independent, fee-only model.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lorrie (Heap) and sons William McKenna IV of Stuart, FL and Landon Keith McKenna and his wife Vesna Prchkovska and their daughter Ella of Fuertaventura, Spain. He is also survived by his sister Karen McKenna Sheerin of Cohasset, MA and her children Nicholas McDonough, Patrick J McDonough, Brooke L Sheerin, Paul L Sheerin, and Adam Sheerin. His parents were the late Thelma Connell and William McKenna II of Boston and Cohasset.
Bill attended Dexter School and was a graduate of Milton Academy where he excelled in football, hockey, high hurdles, and skiing. He received a B.A. in Political Science from Bucknell University in 1965. Growing up on Beacon Hill, Bill summered in Cohasset where he enjoyed sailing, tennis, water skiing, and deep-sea fishing. Bill was particularly proud of his service to his country, stationed overseas as a US Air Force pilot during the Vietnam War.
As a member of the Cohasset Golf Club, Bill enjoyed golf with family and friends, with a personal highlight being his victory in the Dresser Cup. Boating was a favorite hobby of Bill's and he loved cruising in his boat "Synergy" in Ft. Lauderdale and Boston. Bill's final years were spent enjoying the Willoughby Golf Club in Stuart, Fl., where he was blessed with wonderful friends and a variety of joyous, year-round activities.
