Obituary

William A. Stockl, 80, of Stuart, Florida, passed away on March 20, 2020 at the Treasure Coast Hospice, St Lucie Hospice House, Fort Pierce.

Born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, he was a gifted basketball player and graduated from St Joseph HS in Petersburg, VA, and received a BS in business administration from Rutgers.  Bill had been a resident of Stuart for 18 years, after living several years in Denver, Colorado.

Bill had served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant, serving at NIKE bases in the field of radar.  He also displayed his basketball skills while in the Army. Upon being honorably discharged, he was a civilian contractor in Alaska monitoring the USSR during the Cold War.  Bill was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Stuart for many years, and had been an avid hunter, boater, fisherman, and photographer, as well as a painter of bird houses for family and friends, most recently.

Prior to retiring, Bill had been a Human Resource manager with a variety of companies nationwide, and a sales associate at Sears and West Marine on the Treasure Coast, most recently.

He will be greatly missed by his survivors which include his life companion, Patricia Woods, of Stuart; his children, William Stockl and his wife, Lynn of Pitman, NJ, Vicki Buonpastore and her husband, Richard of Belmawr, NJ, and Brian Stockl and his wife, Heather of Glassboro, NJ; his brothers, Dennis Stockl and his wife, Jackie of Grand Prairie, TX, Anthony Stockl and his wife, Gail of Illinois, Dominick Stockl of Washington State, and Edward Biamonte and his wife, Char, of Gastonia, NC; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Stockl in 2002.

Due to the coronavirus guidelines and restrictions, in lieu of a funeral service, a celebration of life will be held at a later date in New Jersey for the family.
